The common space enclosing a courtyard has the shape of an irregular loop, which means the infrastructure of ‘a town’, and flexible activities were developed such as dining, discourse, functional training. The service station was planed at the corner of the ellipse-like courtyard, I intended the nonchalant care, ‘its hold is released and it does not look aside’. Medical treatment rooms consist of single rooms, two-bedrooms and four-bedrooms. ‘Tuba yard’ was planed next to multi-bedrooms to enable them to get sufficent natural light and ventilation. As well as this, I designed the ‘shoji’ and roll screen in order to make the atmosphere like a single room.
The exterior wall has a finish of exposed concrete and an earth-like colour of plaster. The ring-like slab above the courtyard is illuminated by artificial lighting, it has references to a lighthouse.
